Week 10: I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Part 1 Well, I am writing this for the second time since I, once again, thought that I could get it posted before Antville kicked me off. You would think that I had learned by now. Oh well, I suppose I can devote a little extra time to writing about myself again. What do I think of myself? I'll tell you what I think of myself. First of all, let me just say how truly proud of myself that I am. I really feel that I have accomplished something great. This is because I had moments in which I doubted myself at the beginning of this class. Not only had I never done this type of project before, but Mrs. McComas had never done this type of project with any of her classes. I did't know what to expect. But that doesn't matter now. All that matters is that all of us have been successfull. I'd also like to say that I am expecially proud of myself for accomplishing my goal of becoming a more disciplined student. Sure there were a couple of weeks in which I waited until the last minute to complete my assingnments, but I had my reasons. These shortcomings were because of vacation and work. Afterall, I do have other responsibilities. While I did procrastinate a couple of times, I always met my deadlines. Anyway, I'd like to add how much I've learned from my classmates. Even though we all had our own separate MRPs, I really feel like this was a groups effort. I knew that I could always depend on my peers and Mrs. McComas for their help and support. I'd also like to think that I did the same for them. I feel so blessed to be part of such a great class! I love you guys! Anway, I guess what I've been trying to say during this entire paragraph, is I'm proud of myself and I don't mind saying it! Part 2: Tips to future multigenre explorers 1. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. I can not stress this enough. This class requires much work and dedication. If you fall behind in the beginning, it will be extremely difficult to catch up, while producing quality work. 2. ALWAYS type your work to Microsoft Works or an equivalent program before posting to your weblog. Too many times, including when I was typing this final journal, I have thought that I could get my entry posted before Antville kicked me off. Don't chance it. Also, it's a good idea to have a copy of your original work, as you will be making several, I repeat, several revisions. 3. When you read your weekly assignments, don't panic. Yes, it will seem like it's going to take you hours to complete. In all actuality, it will take you many, many hours to complete. Don't let this stress you out. Look at it as a learning experience, because it is a learning experience. You will learn so much from this class if you just allow yourself. Good luck! ... Link
Week 9: I think I can! I think I can! I think I can!

Well, this class is just about over. You know what that means. I should be applying the finishing touches to my project right about now. My goal for this week was to make final revisions to my genres and complete all of the assignments for the week. Despite a hectic schedule, I feel that I have accomplished this goal. The first thing that I did was peer review the About the Author, Acknowledgements, and Preface sections for the girls in my group. These peer review were, by far, the easiest to do thus far. I enjoyed the About the Author sections. I actually learned a thing or two about each of them. It was also nice to get some recognition from my peers. Thanks girls! I spent the rest of the week revising genres. I finally got my revised PowerPoint posted. I hope everyone likes it. I think that it’s a lot better than my original PowerPoint presentation. I still have a couple pictures to add, so if you think the layout of a couple of the slides looks odd, that’s why. I’ll have that fixed within a couple of days. As for the rest of the weekly assignments, I didn’t get around to doing them until late Friday night and today. I worked on Friday from noon until 9:30pm so I didn’t get much work done that day. For some reason, after working all day, I was in the mood to do work when I got home. I ended up working on my MRP reflection until 2:00am. I don’t know what got into me. What ever it was, it must have worked. I feel that I did a good job on that reflection. Heaven knows, I’ve definitely had enough practice. I had planned on having Saturday off to do a bunch of work for this class, but I ended up working from noon until 10pm that night. Needless to say, I was exhausted by the time I got home. As soon as I got off work today, I rushed home to finish my assignments. I posted my reference page. I’m going to be adding more. I just wanted to be sure to post something by the deadline. As I’ve said before, references just aren’t my thing. I don’t know why I have such a hard time with them. I can do them, but it takes me a long time. I also have a difficult time figuring out which format to use for each reference. I’m sure glad I have Frances here to help me. I also re-wrote my journal from the parent. I kept much of the same writing from the original entries, but I added a lot more. I also separated them by date since I’m using them to integrate all of my genres. I actually completed this a few days ago, but I guess I must have saved it to the hard-drive on the computer in the library because it wasn’t on my disk. By the time I realized this, I had no way of going to the library to get this saved information since I had to work while the library was open. How many times have I made this stupid mistake this summer? I think I’ve done it about four times. Hopefully I’ll learn my lesson some day. In the meantime, I’ll just have to grin and bear it. It wasn’t a total loss. I think the journal entries turned out better the second time around. At least I’ll say it did to make me feel better. Lastly, I made a table of contents for my MRP. This didn’t take to long. After all, I am a computer genius now, aren’t I? Don’t answer that question. Overall, I think I did well this week. I’m off tomorrow so I’ll be spending the day at the library. I’m hoping to finish most of what’s left while I’m there. Can you believe we only have 4 ½ days left? Actually, I can believe that. What I can’t believe is that we start fall semester in two weeks! However, I’m not worried about the coming semester. If I can survive this class, I can definitely survive fall semester. At least I hope so. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. At least I’ll have all of you there with me J ... Link
Week 8: We're almost there!

Well, it's the end of week eight, which could only mean one thing. We only have two weeks left! Yeah! Of course, this also means that I only have two weeks to pull this project together. I am happy to say, that I am up for the challenge. My goal for this week was to complete all of week eight's assignments, as well as revise a couple of my genre. Well, I accomplished my goal, sord of. I began this week by writing my preface, acknowledgements, and about the author sections for the MRP. This was actually the easiest thing that I have completed thus far. Of course, the acknowledgements section was a no brainer. Who do I have to thank for contributions to my project? You, of course! I'm glad that we were actually given the opportunity to provide this with our MRP. I have received so much support from each of you. Thanks again! The about the author section was also pretty easy. I'm still an undergraduate student, so I don't have too much information to provide. Hopefully, when I'm older and have been an SLP for a while, I will have more to write. My preface took me the longest to write of the three. It wasn't really difficult, I just had to do some thinking about everything that I have done so far and what made me do the things that I did. In other words, exactly why did I choose certain genres? I think that reflecting upon these things helped me in realizing how everything is going to come together, which leads me to my next point. I, too, have reached my "tipping point." I actually have Frances to thank for that. Thank you Frances! I've decided to combine the journal entries from the parent and use them to integrate all of my genres. I will insert the genres into the journal entry. Of course, I will have to add to the journal entry, but that's not a problem. Speaking of genres, I did spend an hour at the library on Saturday revising my PowerPoint. Wasn't I surprised when the computer decided to shut down while I was in the process of saving my work. Of course, my revisions were not saved and I had to go to work so I didn't have time to do it over at the time. While such an incident would usually leave me wanting to cry, I didn't. I just laughed. I really don't know why. I think it's because I really don't have the time to stress over this right now. So, as a result, I will be spending my next day off, which is tomorrow, re-revising my PowerPoint. I'll also be revising some of my other genres. I hope to revise all of them by the end of the week. Anyway, I also peer reviewed some of the work of my peers this week. Like I said last week, this has really been helping me as well. When I'm reviewing their work, I catch things that I feel they should address in their work that I realize I also should address in my own work. Who would of thought I would realize shortcomings in my own work by reviewing another's work? By the way girls, you have been doing very well. Keep up the good work! We also met at the Moo on Tuesday to meet with teachers and answer some of their questions. The guests in our group seemed very enthused about this project. They asked so many questions. I actually felt like we were, in some wierd way, teaching them. I hope that they like the results of our projects. I think they will. All in all, I feel that I accomplished a lot this week. I feel relieved to finally realize how I am going to pull it all together. I just hope everything goes according to plan. I'm sure it will. Good luck to all of you in the final weeks! Oh yeah, I don't have any questions at this time. ... Link |
